Veteran‘s Body Left for Days in Parking Lot of D.C. VA Hospital

This is a sad story.  Last week a local TV station in Washington, D.C. reported that a veteran apparently passed away in his car while parked in the open-air parking lot at the Washington, D.C. VA Medical Center.  Nobody found his body for two full days.

The veteran’s sister had been calling the VA hospital repeatedly after her brother never returned from his medical appointment.  She eventually searched the massive parking lot herself and found her brother’s body “slumped over” in the car.

As sad as this story is, thankfully this incident has led Congress to order an investigation of the Washington, D.C Medical Center, which hopefully will result in some change for the better.
