VA Ignores Guidance As How TBI Claims Were To Be Evaluated

The attached news item is a familiar tale - and not in a good way.  Traumatic brain injuries (TBI) are a huge issue, especially for veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.  The diagnosis of TBI is often not easy.  The presentation can be relatively subtle.  Signs and symptoms of other injuries can overlap with those of TBI.  The VA had clear guidance as how TBI claims were to be evaluated.  Guess what?  The agency didn’t adhere to that guidance.  Just as it has been with the on-going concerns about wait times and treatment delays, this revelation is not the least bit surprising for those of us familiar with the situation.
