$250,000 for Widow of Vietnam Veteran Whose Heart Condition Went Ignored at Minneapolis VA Hospital

We are pleased to have settled our client’s federal wrongful death lawsuit relating to the untimely death of her husband, a Vietnam Veteran, for $250,000.

Our client, the veteran’s widow, lost her husband too soon after he passed away from a heart attack that went ignored by his medical providers at the Minneapolis VA Medical Center. All the signs and symptoms of an impending heart attack were there, and this veteran told his doctors on several occasions. He did everything he was supposed to do. But his doctors never got him to a cardiologist in time. He passed away leaving his wife of 40+ years, a daughter, and several grandchildren.

After the VA refused to settle the administrative tort claim, we filed suit in federal court in Minneapolis. Following the depositions of the primary doctor at issue, our client, and the disclosure of our experts’ reports, the VA agreed to settle the case.

Despite losing her husband and a long road to reach a resolution of her case, our client remained steadfast and positive throughout:

"I can't thank you and your team enough for helping me fight this huge battle with the VA. Even though my battle is over, I feel sad for the thousands of other Vietnam veterans and their families who are in my similar situation, if not worse, and they have no way out.”
