Seventy three years ago today Allied troops landed on the coast of France. A few years ago I visited the beaches of Normandy. As peaceful and beautiful as it was, looking at the virtual cliff rising up from Omaha Beach gave the place a very ominous feel. The determination and bravery of those soldiers is simply beyond measure. Not many of them are left. The few who still survive are in their 90’s. In a very short time all of them will be gone, as will our living link to what is rightly called “The Greatest Generation.” Today, let’s all remember their sacrifices and be thankful for them.
